Child friendly Active Mobility Systems – A System Dynamics Approach

Description

Wuppertal is known to have a low share of cycling. In order to increase the uptake, children need safe places to learn to ride their bike. Using a system dynamics model, this thesis aims at identifying the important dimensions of cycling uptake.

Goals: Creating a list of factors that influence cycling for children; developing a causal loop diagram (system dynamics model) to represent the relationships; developing future scenarios.

Research Questions

Where are children learning to cycle and how are their perceptions and attitudes towards cycling shaped? How can these insights determine the current and future stock of cyclists?
