Quantifying the climate impact of bicycle traffic

Description

It is widely recognized that cycling is particularly energy-efficient compared to other modes of transport, especially motor vehicles, and is associated with lower emissions of climate-damaging greenhouse gases. But how large is this saving per kilometer ridden in concrete terms? To what extent does it depend on parameters such as substituted modal split, type of bicycle or spatial context, and how much does the data on this vary in the literature? As part of this thesis, the student is to prepare and compare the (largely English-language) international scientific literature on these questions by means of a methodically sound, systematic literature analysis.
